What to expect during the discover scuba trip in
Koh Lipe. Overview If you’ve always wondered what scuba diving was all about, here is your chance! You will experience the wonder of breathing underwater, feel what it’s like to be weightless and able to move in three dimensions, explore beautiful coral reefs and come face-to-face with a huge variety of marine life.
Briefing Once all participant arrive at the school, your instructor will bring you in our nice and comfy classrooms or in our lovely chill area garden. First, you will receive a brief scuba theory lesson from your instructor and an explanation on how to use your equipment.
This takes about 20-30 minutes in our classroom at the school. Demonstration skills Next, your instructor will explain and demonstrate the basic scuba skills you will need to learn and practice underwater before going for your dive. Learning and practicing these skills takes place right off the beach, in shallow water that you can stand up in. This takes about 20-40 minutes, depending on your comfort level and pace of learning. We go very slowly and make sure you are as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Swim like a fish Once you have practiced the skills and your instructor feels you are ready to move on, you will start to slowly swim a bit deeper, 1 meter at a time, giving you a chance to get used to moving around underwater.
You may feel a bit awkward and like you can’t control your body – that’s perfectly normal in the beginning! Your instructor will be close enough to you at all times to provide assistance. We also go slowly in order to give you plenty of time to equalize the pressure in your ears. Enjoy your dive You’ll already start seeing coral and fishes at around 2-3 meters depth, and usually at this point, any nervousness is replaced by excitement and amazement! Your instructor will be monitoring your comfort level at all times in order to ensure your safety.
For non-swimmers, your instructor will either hold your hand, arm or tank, or have you hold onto a rope. Your dive will last about 45 minutes, though it may be shorter or longer depending on your air consumption. Lunch break After your first dive, we take a break for lunch and to relax a bit. A delicious thai meal will be served along with fruits. After one hour, it’s time for the second dive at a different location. Second dive On your second dive, you won’t have any skills to learn or practice, you’ll just go diving, again to a maximum depth of 12 meters. Your second dive will also last about 45 minutes, depending on your air consumption
