Diving is an exciting and immersive activity that allows you to go on underwater adventures like never before. In the Open Water Diving course with SSS Phuket Dive, you’ll learn basic diving skills such as managing your diving equipment, breathing techniques, and underwater safety. Diving is usually done in pairs, and your instructor will guide you through various scenarios to help you anticipate and handle any situations that may arise during your dives.
The Open Water diving course in Phuket consists of three main phases:
- Theory Knowledge: Choose between home-based online learning or on-site classes to grasp the basic principles of diving.
- Confined Water Diving (Pool Session): Practice basic diving techniques in a controlled environment.
- Open-water diving: Test your skills in real ocean conditions while exploring the stunning underwater marine life.
Becoming a Diver with SSS Phuket Dive
As you train, you’ll adapt to breathing underwater and moving comfortably in your surroundings. You’ll learn to perceive colors, light, and sounds differently underwater and understand the importance of respecting marine life and knowing your safety limits.
Key Diving Techniques
Certified Open Water divers will know how to select, prepare, and adjust diving equipment for optimal comfort and safety. You’ll also learn to use essential dive instruments like the dive computer, manometer, and compass. Dive skills include performing buddy checks, proper water entry and exit, ear equalization, buoyancy control, mask and snorkel use, and managing air supply. Understanding diving gestures and signs is crucial for communication underwater.
The Open Water course allows you to progress at your own pace, ensuring that you build confidence and competence for your underwater adventures. Instructors are attentive to individual learning needs and ready to answer any questions. If you have prior dive experience, such as with Discover Scuba Diving, some exercises can be credited towards your Open Water certification.
