Phi Phi Island Scuba Diving Experience

Phi Phi Island, a little island in the Andaman Sea near Phuket, is home to various hard and soft corals, which attract a wide range of aquatic animals. This Phi Phi Island diving trip consists of a total of 3 dives. Usually, we will dive at Koh Bida Nok and Koh Bida Nai dive sites located in the south of the Phi Phi Islands. Depending on the weather conditions, sometimes we will go to Palong Wall on Phi Phi Island instead. The third dive will take place at Shark Point or Anemone Reef.

Scuba divers will be taken onboard our new MV Mandarin Queen 7 boat, launched in 2024. The 30.5 by 6.5-meter boat is specially designed for scuba diving in Phuket. Its well-planned dive platforms offer easy water entries and exits. Scuba divers can relax in the spacious lounge between dives or sit under the large covered area on the upper decks.

The day trip boat takes about two and a half hours to reach Phi Phi Island, giving you enough time to enjoy breakfast, prepare equipment, attend the dive briefing, and relax. Scuba diving on Phi Phi Island is suitable for all levels of divers. Beginners can dive into the shallow areas, while experienced divers have deeper waters to explore. The maximum depth is around 28 to 30 meters, with beautiful soft corals even in shallow areas.

*Please note that the Department of National Park has implemented Marine Park Fees for Phi Phi National Park since July 2017. Divers must pay a marine park fee of THB 600. Please bring the exact amount of cash on board. Only cash payments are accepted.

Marine Life at The Scuba Diving Sites Around Phi Phi Island

The Koh Bida Nok dive site is one of the most popular around Phi Phi. Known for its dramatic walls and rich coral cover, it offers divers the chance to see a wide variety of marine life, from nudibranchs to larger species such as reef sharks, barracudas, and turtles. Enjoy the sight of colorful coral formations, soft corals, and sponges. The depth here is 28 meters, making it suitable for divers of all levels.
Koh Bida Nai is located just a short distance from Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai offers a similarly impressive underwater landscape. The site is well-known for its sloping reef and sandy patches where you’ll encounter schools of snapper, butterflyfish, and angelfish. The dive depth ranges from 5 to 25 meters, and the gentle currents make it an excellent choice for novice and experienced divers.

Depending on the conditions, the third dive will be at either Shark Point or Anemone Reef—two equally impressive dive sites between Phi Phi and Phuket. Shark Point near Phi Phi Island is particularly famous for its frequent sightings of leopard sharks, black tip reef sharks, and if you’re lucky, even whale sharks! True to its name, you can find superb anemones on Anemone Reef with plenty of marine life, including lionfish, clownfish, giant moray eels, turtles, and more.
